World Accreditation Day 2026

Every day, organisations across the world rely on accreditation to demonstrate competence and build confidence. From emerging technologies and digital transformation to environmental stewardship and global trade, accreditation provides the foundation for a safer, smarter and more sustainable world.

9 June 2026 marks World Accreditation Day (#WAD2026), a global initiative established to promote the value of accreditation. On WAD 2026, we celebrate the vital role accreditation plays in driving innovation, trust and sustainable development.

‘As technology evolves and sustainability expectations grow, progress needs proof. Accreditation helps innovation move faster and more safely, helps sustainability claims stand up to scrutiny, and helps build trust in the results that regulators, businesses and consumers rely on.’

— Brahim Houla, Global ACI Chair

World Accreditation Day was established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) following a joint decision in 2007 to create a dedicated global day recognising the value of accreditation. Celebrated each year on 9 June, WAD has become a global platform for the accreditation community to showcase how accreditation builds confidence in products, services and systems worldwide. Historical themes and resources dating back to the earliest celebrations can be explored in our archive.
