Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI) has updated the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) sub-scope of the Global ACI Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA).
The update replaces the third edition of the CORSIA Environmental Technical Manual, Volume IV (Doc 9501), with the fourth edition, maintaining alignment between the sub-scope and current CORSIA documentation.
CORSIA is the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) global market-based scheme for addressing the growth of carbon dioxide emissions from international aviation. Under CORSIA, aircraft operators monitor, report and verify their emissions and, where applicable, offset eligible emissions growth above agreed levels.
The updated Environmental Technical Manual provides guidance to support the implementation of CORSIA, including guidance related to monitoring, reporting and verification processes.
Accreditation helps build confidence that validation and verification bodies have been assessed as competent to carry out their activities in accordance with applicable requirements. Through the Global ACI Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA), accredited conformity assessment results can be recognised across borders, supported by peer evaluation of accreditation bodies and the consistent operation of recognised accreditation systems.
