For more than 30 years, the ISO Survey of management system standard certifications has provided an important global reference point for understanding the scale of accredited certification to specific ISO management system standards.
The 2025 edition was recently released, reporting valid accredited management system certificates and associated sites as of 31 December 2025. The survey counts certificates issued by certification bodies accredited by Global ACI Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MRA) signatories.
The results show the continuing importance of accredited certification across economies, sectors and supply chains. Across the standards included in the 2025 Survey, the results report more than 3.28 million valid certificates and more than 5.25 million associated sites. ISO 9001 remains the largest standard by certificate volume, with 1,611,729 valid certificates and 2,419,972 associated sites. ISO 14001 follows with 739,390 certificates and 1,246,566 sites, while ISO 45001 reports 599,532 certificates and 1,011,191 sites.
The 2025 edition also reflects the continued development of the Survey, including coverage of ISO/IEC 42001 and ISO 37301 for the first time. This broadens the picture of accredited certification across both established and emerging areas of management system practice.
Reliable data matters. It helps standards bodies, accreditation bodies, certification bodies, regulators, industry and other users better understand where management system standards are being used, how certification activity is distributed, and where demand for accredited conformity assessment is evolving.
For Global ACI, this supports the wider purpose of accreditation: strengthening confidence in conformity assessment through competent, impartial and internationally recognised accreditation. By providing a shared evidence base, the ISO Survey 2025 helps communicate the role accredited certification plays in supporting quality, safety, sustainability, supply chains and international trade.
